I don't like to say resolutions, as that feels like something I need to change. Instead I like creating goals for myself ... stepping stones along my path. Sometimes I achieve a goal and sometimes the act of working towards that goal leads me to something completely different.
For the last month I have been dealing with a rash on my chinny chin chin. Not sure how it started, but I think it is all connected to all the changes going on in my life... the biggest ones being my new career and going through peri-menopause and hot flashing like crazy! Its an interesting place to be because I am not overly concerned with going through this ... but I do have to say some of the side-effects leave a little to be desired. I managed to get through my teen years with only a few pimples ... why now in the prime of my life do I get acne or perioral dermatitis or whatever it is??
Needless to say one of my goals [which is an on-going one] is to live a cleaner life ... eat less processed foods, exercise more, drink more water, more time for myself [to read, to meditate, to be by myself] ... only drawback is I like my wine. But for the sake of my skin, I will take a break for a few months. Perhaps reading will take my mind off of it!
So goals for 2014 ... to climb the Grouse Grind [this means working on my cardio] ... drink more water ... dance more Nia ... play more with my daughter ... work after hours as little as possible ... lose 5-10lbs ... finish my weight training course ... read 6 or more books ... more fun, less stress ... exercising with my husband ... spend less $$ ... have a veggi garden ... get healthy & stay healthy!!
Oh this all sounds so good!! But the trick is not only to create goals, but to then create action steps to doing it. To be able to climb the Grind, I need to increase my cardio, which is something I have been working on for a few months now. By next summer this will be a reality. Other things like working after hours less really require me saying NO to taking on additional work. If I want less stress in my life, this is a step I must take. And I have to say it truly does inspire me! Here's to a great 2014!!
